There are two ethnics of orang asli in Taman Negara – Batek and Semokberi. Their physical appearances look almost similar. Batek who are more gentle, short , dark skin and tight curly hair, whilst Semokberi have wavy hair. They live in simple basic structure of palm-thatched shelters with several families live together. Some of the shelters are alongside the trails and river bank.

They get food supplies such as fruits, vegetables, and etc from forest. And they hunt for protein supplies. Traditional hunting weapon, bamboo blow pipe is popular for hunting. They are very knowledgeable about the jungle and their skills are valuable in exploring Taman Negara.

On your visit to the village, they will share with you how to use their hunting weapon, the bamboo blow pipe. They also show you how to make fire. They speak their own language, however our nature guide will help to translate and explain in English.
