Route: From Kuala Lumpur – Jerantut – Kuala Tahan
If you enjoy driving, consider this method to Taman Negara. From Kuala Lumpur drive to Jerantut for 175km in distance and from Jerantut to Kuala Tahan, drive another 68km. Kuala Tahan, is the gateway of Taman Negara. In ordinary weather conditions and normal speed limit you can reach Taman Negara within 4 hours.
Step 1:
From City Centre to East Coast Expressway
From city center drive heading toward Gombak Toll Plaza and pay RM5.00 toll ticket. Drive carefully as you driving on the windy high way. Pay another RM3.00 at Bentong Toll Plaza. You can’t see any Taman Negara sign boards after few minutes driving along the highway. Don’t worry, just look for the signage to Temerloh.
After you passed by the Exit 816 of Exit Lancang, soon you will notice the first Taman Negara signboard on your left hand side. Now it time for you to be more alert for your exit to Taman Negara within a few kilometers away.


Step 2:
Exit at Temerloh Toll Plaza
A few meters away from Temerloh toll plaza, you can see signage to Temerloh and Jerantut . Just follow the direction. Pay your toll ticket, drive and look at the signage carefully. At the first T junction, make sure you turn to the right, route 98 and heading straight to Jerantut. It takes 45 minutes to 1 hour driving.

Step 3
Go to Jerantut Town or Direct to Kuala Tahan
When approaching Jerantut, you have 2 choices. First choice, you can go to Jerantut town for a short coffee break or to have special local dishes. You also can check your vehicle conditions, make sure refuel your tank and check the tyre pressure. This is a part of your planning before you going to drive along the jungle area from Jerantut to Kuala Tahan. There are 2 small petrol stations in Padang Piol and Sg. Retang, along the way but some time their services are not very reliable.

Special local Dishes – Fresh water fish from Sungai Pahang

The most popular fresh water fish in Jerantut – Ikan Baung Kenderak and Ikan Patin. Eat with ulam & sambal tempoyak.
If you decided to drive straight to Kuala Tahan, you need to turn right once you reach at the T junction. Drive heading to Taman Negara and Maran. Now you can see more signage to Taman Negara.

About ten minutes driving y from the T junction, you will be crossing the Sungai Pahang and passing by a timber factory. Slow your car down because soon you have to turn to the left. Look at the signage show Taman Negara & Padang Piol. Immediately after you turn left, there is another signboard to tell you the exect distance to Taman Negara & Kuala Tahan from that junction – 56 km to Taman Negara & 54 km to Kuala Tahan


How to get there from Singapore?
Method 01: Easy and Enjoy Journey
Route: Singapore – Jerantut (By Train), Kuala Tembeling (Boat) – Kuala Tahan
You just need to follow 3 simple steps:
Step 1: Get the daily train service from Singapore to Jerantut
This is the most convenience and popular for travelers from Singapore to Taman Negara. The sole train provider is Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad(KTMB).
The train departs at 6:00pm from Tg Pagar Railway Station, Singapore heading to Tumpat, Kelantan. You just need to get your ticket to Jerantut, Pahang. Your journey estimated takes 8 1/2hrs. Make you self comfortable, get a bed for sleeping in two different classes of berths. They are coach has 8 private cabins, 2 berths per cabin with washbasin and coach as 40 berths, 20 upper & 20 lower with common washrooms.
Step 2: Get a Local Bus or Boat to Kuala Tahan
By Local Bus
Don’t oversleep and miss the Jerantut station. The train stops only for 10-15 minutes to drop and pick-up passenger. You will be at the station at very early in the morning - 2:30am. There is nothing much you can do at that time. Take a break at the railway stations or if you have a pre booked room, just walk to the town center for your accommodation.
The bus station is located only less than 10 minutes walk from the railway station. The earliest bus to Kuala Tahan, Taman Negara is leaving at 5:30am. The journey takes 1 1/2 hrs to 2 hrs to Kuala Tahan. No tickets sold at the counter, just hoop in, the conductor will give you the ticket before departure or while boarding.
By Boat
If you come with our package, our people will be at Jerantut Railway station to welcome you. We provide transport to transit hostel or hotel for you to have a convenience rest, clean up yourself and breakfast at 7:30am.
After your breakfast, we provide transfer from Jerantut to Kuala Tembeling Jetty (van or bus) and boat ride to Kuala Tahan, Taman Negara. The 1st boat leaving for Kuala Tahan is at 9:00am. Relax and enjoy the most scenic journey for 2 ½ hrs – 3 hrs to Taman Negara. It is advisable for you to go to the toilet before boarding. There is no toilet facility on the journey.

Arrival at Kuala Tahan and Check in

Method 02: Self Drive
We suggest two options for your route to Taman Negara, they are
Route 1: JB-Yong Peng-Segamat-Gemas-Temerloh-Jerantut-Taman Negara
Route2: Singapore- Kuala Lumpur - Temerloh- Padang Piol-Kuala Tahan
Route 1: Is the shortest for you to drive to Taman Negara. If you like to drive and enjoy the site seeing and the beauty landscape of Malaysia, this is your best choice. You will pass by many towns and villages along your journey, observe the local culture and try local delicacies.
Route 2: Although the distance is slightly longer but you can drive conveniently along the PLUS highway to Kuala Lumpur. From Kuala Lumpur, heading to East coast Express way to Temerloh Exit and heading straight to Jerantut or Kuala Tahan.
